PawSox Take Second Straight Over Bisons

The Pawtucket Red Sox were able to beat the Buffalo Bisons 4-1 last night at Coca-Cola field despite the fact that two of their hitting stars were given the night off.

Both Ryan Lavarnway and Lars Anderson did not play in the game, but it did not seem to matter to the PawSox.

Pawtucket would score all the runs it needed in sixth, crossing the plate three times against Buffalo starter Mark Cohoon (3-6).  Brent Dlugach and Ronald Bermudez led off with singles.  Che-Hsuan Lin loaded the bases by reaching on a bunt single.  Jose Iglesias then belted a two-run single to left.  Daniel Nava singled to again load the bases.  Cohoon was replaced on the mound by Jose De La Torre.

De La Torre forced Hector Luna to ground to third baseman Luis Figueroa who forced Lin out at home.  Nate Spears drove in the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to center.

Pawtucket added another run in the seventh on a Bermudez ground out.

Pawtucket received another solid starting pitching performance, this time out of Brandon Duckworth. Duckworth (7-6) threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up six hits.  He walked one and struck out two.

Tommy Hottovy made his PawSox return and gave up a solo homer to Buffalo C Mike Nickeas in the bottom of the eighth.  Michael Bowden struck out two in the ninth to earn his 12th save of the year.

Game three of the series is today at 1:05 p.m.  Jeremy Kehrt (1-0, 5.40 ERA) will get the start in place of Felix Doubront for the PawSox.  He faces Dylan Owen (4-5, 4.35 ERA) for Buffalo.
