Here are the postgame comments from PawSox Manager Arnie Beyeler following tonight’s 6-5 victory over the Rochester Red Wings.

PAWTUCKET-  The Pawtucket Red Sox broke a 5-5 tie, scoring the go-ahead run on the wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth to come away with a 6-5 win over the Rochester Red Wings tonight at McCoy.  The PawSox have won four straight and 11 of their last 15.

The winning scored in part due to the great hustle of PawSox SS Jose Iglesias.  With one out in the eighth Iglesias walked then stole second.  After Matt Sheely popped to second, Iglesias stole second with Che-Hsuan Lin at the plate.  Rochester reliever Anthony Slama (3-2) then threw a wild pitch, allowing Iglesias to score.

The PawSox led off the scoring tallying two runs in the top of the second off Rochester starter Kyle Gibson.  Lars Anderson led off with a single to center and advanced to third on a ground rule double to left by Hector Luna which hopped into the PawSox bullpen.  Anderson scored on a ground out to first by Brent Dlugach.  Luis Exposito then walked.  Jose Iglesias drove in the second Pawtucket run on a soft ground out to third.

The PawSox got three more hits off Gibson in the third, scoring another run.  With one out Daniel Nava singled and stole second.  Ryan Lvarnway then drove in Nava one batter later with a single to center.

Rochester got to PawSox starter Matt Fox for four runs in the fourth.  RF Trevor Plouffe was credited with a triple after Lin slipped chasing a ball in center.  CF Dustin Martin drove in Plouffe and reached first after Fox failed to touch first on a grounder to Anderson.  1B Aaron Bates walked.  Martin scored on a double down the right field line by DH Brian Dinkleman.  Fox then threw a wild pitch to plate Bates.  After 3B Chase Lambin walked 2B Steve Singleton drove in Dinkelman with a sacrifice fly to right center.

The PawSox re-took the lead in the fifth on solo home runs to left by Lavarnway and Luna.

The PawSox had a chance to add to their lead in the seventh, loading the bases with no one out.  But Rochester reliever Kyle Woldrop settled down to get the next three batters without allowing a runner to score.

That failure to capitalize in the seventh cost the PawSox in the eighth as Hideki Okajima came in and gave up three straight hits after two were out to allow Rochester to tie the game at 5-5.

Fox did not get the decision.  He threw five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits.  He walked three and struck out four.  He threw 87 pitches, 54 for strikes.

Tommy Hottovy threw two innings of scoreless relief.  Despite the shaky eighth, Okajima (3-0) got the win,  Michael Bowden came on in the ninth to notch his seventh save of the season.

Eight of the nine Pawtucket starters had at least one hit.  Lavarnway led the way with three hits and two RBI’s Nava, Anderson, and Luna had two hits each.

The finale of the four game series will be tomorrow night at 6:05p.m.  Thomas Diamond (0-2, 11.57 ERA) will start for Rochester.  Felix Doubront (0-2, 3.14 ERA) will throw for the PawSox.

PAWTUCKET- The rosters for the Triple-A All-Star Game have been set and PawSox starter Matt Fox will be the lone representative from Pawtucket serving on the International League squad.

Fox is 4-2 with a 3.61 ERA in ten starts with Pawtucket.  Fox is second on the PawSox with 67 1/3 innings pitched and 58 strikeouts.

Fox was originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2004 and made his Major League Debut with the Twins last September.  He was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox last September 9th and made three appearances with Boston.  He was released over the winter and re-signed with Boston as a minor league free agent.

The Triple-A All-Star Game will be played Wednesday, July 13th at 9:00pm ET at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, UT.  The game will be televised on the MLB Network and also on radio locally on the PawSox flagship station 920 AM WHJJ.

We are at McCoy tonight as the PawSox look for their fourth win in a row as they host the Rochester Red Wings.  Pawtucket has taken the first two games of the four game series by scores of 8-6 and 4-1.  Here are the line-ups for tonight’s game:

Following last night’s victory the PawSox leaped over the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees to earn the second spot in the division, 3 1/2 games behind first place Lehigh Valley.  They are also just 1/2 game behind both Gwinnett and Louisville in the IL Wild Card race.  With it being the last game of the month, the PawSox have already clinched a winning record for June, going 16-10 entering tonight.

Plenty of off-field news for the PawSox.  The Red Sox today designated OF Mike Cameron for assignment and called up IF Yamaico Navarro from the PawSox.  Pawtucket placed IF Nate Spears on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to June 29th with a shoulder sprain.  The PawSox have called up IF Tony Thomas from Portland.

PawSox players hot at the plate:

- Brent Dlugach is batting .440 with a double, homer, and five RBI’s over his last seven games.
- Che-Hsuan Lin has multi-hit games in three of his last five appearances where he has gone .345 with six RBI’s
- Daniel Nava has hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games, batting .417 over that span.  He has also hit .374 with six doubles and three homers since being designated for assignment by the Red Sox last month.

PawSox starter Kyle Weiland was masterful, giving up only one hit over eight innings as Pawtucket beat the Rochester Red Wings 4-1 last night at McCoy.  The PawSox have won the first two games of the series and three in a row overall.

Weiland threw 99 pitches, 70 for strikes over eight innings.  He gave up one unearned run while walking no one.  Weiland (7-6) struck out 12 Red Wings on the night.  That’s the most strikeouts in a game by a PawSox hurler since 2003.  He held Rochester hitless until giving up a single in the sixth.

The PawSox scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI single by Luis Exposito.

Pawtucket added three runs in the sixth.  Hector Luna led off with a solo homer off Rochester starter Eric Hacker (3-7).  With two out Rochester reliever Carlos Gutierrez replaced Hacker on the mound.  He walked Exposito, gave up a single to Jose Iglesias and walked Che-Hsuan Lin to load the bases.  Daniel Nava then walked to force in Exposito.  Gutierrez then hit Ryan Lavarnway to plate Iglesias.

Nava, Luna, and Iglesias had two hits each for the PawSox.

The PawSox will be looking for the sweep tonight in the finale of the three game series.   Kyle Gibson (3-7, 3.87 ERA) will start for Rochester.  Matt Fox (4-2, 3.61 ERA) goes for the PawSox.
