PawSox Corral Bisons 7-3
The Pawtucket Red Sox got off to a hot start and then was able to hold on, beating the Buffalo Bisons last night 7-3 at Coca-Cola Field.
Pawtucket got of the board with three runs in the fourth on four consecutive hits by Josh Reddick, Jeremy Hermida, Bubba Bell and Aaron Bates.
The PawSox tacked on another in the fifth on Reddick’s 14th homer of the season.
Pawtucket was cruising behind the pitching of Adam Mills (3-9). Mills threw six shutout innings, giving up five hits while striking out five and not walking a batter.
Buffalo made the game interesting by scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth off PawSox reliever Chad Paronto. 1B Nick Evans and CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis had RBI doubles to cut the Pawtucket lead to 4-3.
The PawSox added insurance in the top of the ninth, scoring three times on RBI singles by Mark Wagner, Niuman Romero, and Reddick.
Reddick continues on his torrid late season pace, going 5 for 5 with two RBI’s.
The fianle of the series with Buffalo takes place tonight at 7:05p.m. Rich Hill (2-0, 3.82 ERA) goes for Pawtucket. Raul Valdes (1-1, 2.11 ERA) throws for the Bisons..
NOTES: The Red Sox have announced that RP Hideki Okajimi will remain with the PawSoxfor at least one more appearance as part of his rehab assignment. Okajima gave up four runs on four hits in his second outing with the club Monday night.
The Red Sox have also activated C Kevin Cash from the 15 day disabled list. To make room on the roster the Red Sox have optioned Dusty Brown back to Pawtucket.
