  • PawSox/Clippers Halted by Rain in the Sixth

The PawSox and Columbus Clippers played into the sixth inning this afternoon at McCoy.  Then the rain came and the game was suspended with the Clippers on top 4-3.

The PawSox were leading the game 3-2 entering the sixth when the Clippers scored two runs to take the lead just before the rains came.  Rules dictate that if a road team takes the lead in the inning which the game is halted before the home team has a chance to respond, the game is to be suspended.  Because the Clippers do not return to McCoy this season, the game will be completed July 23rd in Columbus.

The PawSox scored their runs on a pair of solo homers by Bubba Bell and Ryan Shealy in the third and fourth inning and a RBI single by Bell in the fifth.

Kris Johnson started for the PawSox and went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits.  He walked two, struck out two and gave up a two-run homer to Josh Rodriguez in the third.

T.J. Large gave up the go ahead runs in the sixth before the game was called.

The PawSox now hit the road and open up a four game series beginning tomorrow night (7:05 p.m) against the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees. Michael Bowden (2-3, 4.39 ERA) gets the ball for the PawSox.  Ivan Nova (5-2, 3.42 ERA) throws for the Yankees.
