Pawtucket enters the game coming off a sweep at the hands of the Yankees over the weekend at Coca-Cola Field. At 48-58 the PawSox are 10 games under .500 for the first time this season. They are also 17 games below where they were a year ago after 106 games. (65-41 in 2008). The Pawsox are 6-22 in their last 28 games.
Jeff Bailey returns to the PawSox tonight to begin a 20-day rehab assignment after being placed on the DL by Boston on July 5th with a high left ankle sprain. PawSox Manager Ron Johnson said Bailey will get three at bats today and three more tomorrow while serving in the DH role. Johnson said Bailey will be given a day off Wednesday and return Thursday where he will see action in the field, likely at first base.
In other off the field news, the PawSox reinstated catcher Carlos Maldonado and then released him. RP Marcus McBeth has returned to the club after a short stint up with Boston.
I will provide updates form the park throughout the night. Please check back.
