Bisons Overtake PawSox
LF Nick Evans broke up a 1-1 tie with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, leading the Buffalo Bisons to 3-1 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox this afternoon at Coca-Cola Field. With the win the Bisons have taken the first three games of this series.
The PawSox knotted the game at 1-1 in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Chris Carter.
Most of the game was dominated by the starting pitchers. Pawtucket’s Michael Bowden was once again strong, firing seven innings, giving up one run on six hits. He struck out six and walked no one.
Lance Broadway was equally effective for Buffalo. He surrendered one run on nine hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Carter, Brian Anderson, and Travis Denker each has two hits for the PawSox. Mike Lamb had two hits for the Bisons.
Hunter Jones (2-3) gave up Evans’ homer and took the loss. Tim McNab (5-2) earned the win for the Bisons.
The PawSox wrap-up their four-game set with the Bisons tomorrow night (7:05 pm). Billy Traber (6-5, 3.35 ERA) pitches for the PawSox. He’ll be opposes by Toni Stoner (3-4, 4.47 ERA) will throw for Buffalo.
