Tazawa Shines, But PawSox Fall to Bisons
Starter Junichi Tazawa made a great first impression in his debut with the PawSox last night, but the Pawtucket offense could not support his effort and the team fell to the Buffalo Bisons 2-1.
Tazawa (0-1) worked six innings, giving up both runs (one earned) on only three hits. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.
The PawSox were outdone by the solid pitching by Buffalo starter Nelson Figueroa (7-5), who worked 8 innings, giving up the single run on four hits. Pawtucket’s lone run came on a ground out in the seventh by Bubba Bell.
Chris Carter had two of Pawtucket’s five hits.
The two clubs continue their series tonight (7:05pm) in Buffalo. Enrique Gonzalez (7-8, 5.52 ERA) will throw for the PawSox. He faces Lance Broadway (3-4, 5.47 ERA) for Buffalo.
