PawSox Lose No-Hitter, But Still Snap Losing Streak

The Pawtucket Red Sox snapped their 8-game losing streak this afternoon, nearly in dramatic fashion.  The PawSox no-hit the Indianapolis Indians for 8 2/3 innings before holding on for a 3-2 win at McCoy.

The PawSox combination of Michael Bowden, T.J. Large, Javier Lopez, and Fernando Cabrera allowed only 5 walks while striking out 7 before Indians DH Larry Broadway broke-up the no-hit bid with a single to center off Cabrera.  3B Tagg Brozeid followed one batter later by launching a two-run home run to left to wipe out the shutout.  Cabrera did retire C Robinson Diaz to preserve the win.

The PawSox runs came on an Aaron Bates groundout in the sixth and a two-run single by Mark Wagner in the eighth. Paul McAnulty had two hits and scored twice for the PawSox.

Large (1-0) earned his first Triple A win.  Indy starter Eric Hacker (2-4) took the loss.

The PawSox head out for a four-game road trip to Rochester beginning tomorrow night (7:05 PM).  Billy Traber (5-4, 2.28 ERA) will make a start for the PawSox. Johan Pino (NR) pitches for the Red Wings.
