Eight Not Great for PawSox

The Pawtucket Red Sox have now lost 8 straight games, falling to the Indianapolis Indians last night at McCoy 8-7 in 10 innings.  It’s the first 8-game losing streak for the PawSox since 2002.  Pawtucket has also lost 8 straight at home for the first time since 1985.

Last night’s game saw both teams succeed at the plate, with the squads combining for 27 hits.  LF Lastings Milledge led the Indians with four hits while DH Larry Broadway homered and drove in three runs.

Every member of the PawSox line-up had at least one hit.  Paul McAnulty was the offensive star, hitting a homer and driving in four runs.

Neither team found much support through their pitching staffs.  Both Indy starter Brad Lincoln and PawSox starter Enrique Gonzalez lasted only five innings.  Lincoln gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits while Gonzalez surrendered five runs on six hits.

The Indians won the game in extra innings on a RBI single by Milledge off PawSox reliever Fernando Carbrera (0-3).

Indianapolis looks for the sweep this afternoon (1:05PM) as Eric Hacker (2-3, 5.08 ERA) takes the mound.  He faces Michael Bowden (3-4, 3.32 ERA) for the PawSox.
