Bisons vs. PawSox- July 10, 2009 Game Preview

It has been well over a month since I’ve had the chance to set foot back into the friendly confines of the McCoy Stadium press box.  But I am back tonight to bring you news of tonight’s contest as the PawSox look to square their two-game series with the Buffalo Bisons.  Buffalo took game one of the series 3-1 last night.

Enrique Gonzalez (7-7, 5.97 ERA) will throw for the PawSox.  He’ll be opposed by Tobi Stoner (1-2, 5.75 ERA) for the Bisons

Gonzalez makes the start tonight after being activated from the disabled list recovered from a right calf strain.  To make room on the roster the PawSox have placed Michael Bowden on the 7-day disabled list, also with a mild right calf strain.

Gonzalez’ last start came on June 30th where he struggled in Pawtucket’s 12-0 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs.  In that game Gonzalez worked five innings, giving up eight runs on 12 hits.

Stoner also lost his last decision, last Sunday at Rochester.  He gave up six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.

In off-the-field news, PawSox starter Clay Buchholz had his car vandalized earlier this morning.  Buchholz said vandals attempted to make off with two of his tires.  Concerned neighbors heard the car alarm sound and immediately alerted police.  The suspects were found a short time later and the tires were returned.
