Ambres Jinxes Former Club, Bisons Edge PawSox 3-1

When the 2009 campaign began, Chip Ambres was a member of the Pawtucket Red Sox.  He was traded June 10th to the Mets and now plays for the Buffalo Bisons, Pawtucket’s latest opponent.  After tonight’s game at McCoy the PawSox are sorry he left.

Ambres belted two home runs and drove in all of the Bisons’ runs as Buffalo beat the PawSox 3-1.

Ambres belted a two run homer in the fourth off PawSox spot starter Billy Traber (5-4).  He added a solo shot in the eighth off reliever Randor Bierd.  Ambres ended the night a perfect 3 for 3 with a walk.

Once again the PawSox offense could do little in putting runs on the board.  They collected only three hits, two from lead-off man Freddie Guzman.  Their lone run came in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Paul McAnulty.

Nelson Figueroa (5-4) pitched eight strong innings to notch the win.

The two team wrap-up their brief two-game series tomorrow night (7:05pm).  Tobi Stoner (1-2, 5,75 ERA) pitches for Buffalo.  He’ll be opposed by Enrique Gonzalez (7-7, 5.97 ERA) for the PawSox
