Buchholz Paces PawSox Past Iron Pigs
PawSox starter Clay Buchholz continues to dominate International League hitters, giving up only two runs over six innings to lead Pawtucket to a 6-2 victory last night over the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
Buchholz gave up four hits, walking four and striking out four in improving to 7-1 on the season.
Tha PawSox bullpen then shut the door, with Marcus McBeth and Randor Bierd working three scoreless innings to secure the win.
Offensively the PawSox were helped by the erratic pitching from Iron Pigs starter Carlos Carrasco (5-8). Carrasco walked six, including loading the bases to lead-off the fourth. All three runners would score.
Chris Carter and Travis Denker each had two hits and drove in two runs for Pawtucket.
The two teams wrap-up their two-game series tonight (7:05PM). Kris Johnson (3-8, 5.86 ERA) will take the ball for the PawSox. He’ll go up against Drew Carpenter (7-2, 3.06 ERA) for the Iron Pigs.
