PawSox Rebound to Edge Yankees 4-3

The Pawtucket Red Sox came back from a two run deficit and rode the arms of their All-Star pitchers in beating the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees last night 4-3 at McCoy.  With the win the PawSox trail the Yankees by only 2 1/2 games in the I.L. North standings.

Trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth, the PawSox clawed back with a single run in the fourth and a pair in the sixth to take the lead.  The Pawtucket offense was led by Paul McAnulty, who belted a solo homer in the first and reached on a double and scored in the fourth.  Dusty Brown and Bubba Bell drove in the tying and go ahead runs in the sixth.  Freddie Guzman also had two hits for the PawSox.

I.L. All-Star Clay Buchholz (6-1) did not have best start of the season but worked 7 strong innings to pick-up the win.  He gave up three runs on 5 hits, walking one and striking out 7.  Marcus McBeth pitched a scoreless 8th inning while Pawtucket’s other All-Star pitcher, Fernando Cabrera, shut the door on the Yankees in the ninth for his 17th save of the season.

The two teams wrap-up their McCoy portion of their five-game series tonight (6:15pm).  Josh Towers (2-5) will pitch for the Yankees.  He’ll be opposed by Kris Johnson (3-7) by the PawSox.
