PawSox Miss Opportunities, Fall to Bats 5-2
The Pawtucket Red Sox collected 14 hits but could not cash in, leaving 12 men on base in their loss to the Louisville Bats last night, 5-2 at Slugger Field. The teams ended up splitting the four game series.
The game shaped up as potential pitching duel between the PawSox’ Michael Bowden and Louisville prospect Homer Bailey. Both men pitched well, but not up to the level of consistency hoped for by their parent clubs. Bowden worked 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs (one earned). He did not figure in the decision. Bailey (4-5) pitched long enough to earn the win, throwing 6 innings, giving up 11 hits and two runs.
Pawtucket reliever Billy Traber (2-3) took the loss. Lefty Javier Lopez continues to struggle in his return to Pawtucket, giving up two runs, including a homer. His ERA is now 13.50.
Chris Carter, Dusty Brown, Angel Chavez, Jonathan Van Every, and Travis Denker each had two hits for the PawSox. Louisville LF Daniel Dorn went 3 for 4 with a homer and 2 RBI’s to pace the Bats.
Pawtucket travels to Indianapolis to open up a four game series tonight (7:15pm) with the Indians. Enrique Gonzalez (5-3) starts for the PawSox. He’ll be opposed by Daniel McCutchen (2-3) for Indy.
