Bats Get Best of Johnson, PawSox
The Louisville Bats jumped on Pawtucket starter Kris Johnson early then held on to defeat the PawSox 7-5 last night at Slugger Field.
The Bats roughed up Johnson for all 7 runs (5 earned) over 2 2/3 innings. Johnson (2-6) gave up 9 hits while walking one and striking out four. His ERA ballooned to 7.41.
At the plate the PawSox did hammer out 13 hits, with Sean Danielson, Paul McAnulty, Angel Chavez, and Travis Denker collecting two hits each. Jonathan Van Every belted a two-run home run in the 8th inning, his 4th homer of the season.
Louisville RF Norris Hooper went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s to pace the Bats. Louisville starter Adsam Pettyjohn (1-5) pitched 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win.
The PawSox and Bats play matinee (11:05am) today in game three of the series. Charlie Zink (3-4, 4.36 ERA) throws for the PawSox against Matt Maloney (3-2, 2.28 ERA) for the Bats.
