Projected PawSox 2009- Jose Vaquedano

vaquedanoThe projected 2009 PawSox bullpen will have it’s share of arms with plenty of professional baseball experience.  Among them is Jose Vaquedano.

The 27 year-old right hander will be spending his eighth season in the Red Sox minor league system.  The 35th round draft choice from 2002 should work out of the PawSox pen for the second straight season.

Vaquedano used his sidearm delivery to post a 4-1 record with a 4.95 ERA in 30 releif appearnces with Pawtucket.  He was a perfect 4-0 with Double A Portland with a minuscule 0.41 ERA over 13 appearances.

Vaquedano did have control issues while with the PawSox, walking 26 in 40 innings of work.

His fastball is generally in the mid-to-high 80′s with good movement.  He also has an above average slider and curve.

Vaquedano’s longevity with the team indicates the Sox may not be willing to give up on him quite yet.
