Game 100- Mud Hens vs. PawSox, July 18, 2008
Game two of David Ortiz’ rehab and game two of the four game series between the Toledo Mud Hens and the Pawtucket Red Sox takes place tonight (7:05 pm) at McCoy. RHP Anastacio Martinez (2-1, 3.49) throws for Toledo, against RHP Devern Hansack (4-9, 4.45) for Pawtucket.
McCoy will again be SRO and the media will, again, be scrutinizing Ortiz’ every at-bat. Unfortunately, I will not be among them. Here is a brief overview of the game nonetheless…
Toledo Mud Hens (55-42)
The Mud Hens are on a two game losing streak and now trail Louisville by two games in the IL’s West Division. The Bats have won seven straight.
Martinez takes the mound tonight in a starting role for the fifth time this season. He has done well since being elevated to the starting rotation. Over this four previous starts, Martinez is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA.
Brent Clevlen enters the game after belting two solo homers last night.
Pawtucket Red Sox (62-37)
The PawSox are 25 games over .500 for only the second time in team history. They enter tonight’s action 4 1/2 games ahead of Scranton/Wilkes Barre in the IL North.
Hansack makes his 18th start in 2008. He lost his last outing, giving up three runs on four hits over six innings last Friday at Norfolk.
Ortiz looks to build upon his 1 for 3 night last night. He is again expected to DH and bat 3rd.
If you are not going to the game, you can follow the action on WHJJ 920AM and on Rhode Island cable television channel 3.
